Dogs as a Xmas gift
A lot of dogs, specially puppies are brought to animal shelters each year after Christmas. But why? First of all, dogs are used as presents for kids or people don’t realize that they are offering a being and not a thing. These two aspects are not the only reasons for dogs brought to animal shelters or local pounds after the Christmas holidays.
I could bet that you had wished at last one time to have a pet. And I’m sure, that there were a lot of you who got a pet as a Christmas gift. The temptation to bring a cute puppy dog home and give it as a gift is strong. Do you think it’s the right time to bring a puppy in your life during the most busiest days of the year?
Whereas small pets like mouses, rabbits or rats are pets which often live less than dogs, dogs are pets who share their life with you for a long time. Dogs need under run, dogs need a lot of care, in short: they need someone to whom to take care of them for the rest of their life’s. You can say, it can be nearly a 6th of your life that you share with a dog. For this reason, you have to think about before you buy or offer a dog as a
present.
But if you are still convinced to offer a dog as a Christmas gift, you should check first some aspects.
- Do you or your family have time for a dog?
- Do you have the right home for your dog?
- Are you and your family ready for a dog?
- Are you sure that you can arrange your life to give the best to your dog?
- Can you guarantee that the person to who you offer the dog will care for it?
Those are just some questions to answer before you offer a dog.
Most of the people don’t think before they offer living gifts. You can help to prevent dogs of being sent to animal shelters. Animate others to think about their gift before they offer it!
