Beagle Freedom Project began in December 2010 when Shannon Keith received information that beagles used for lab research were to be given a chance at freedom. Now, Beagle Freedom Project functions as a mission of Animal Rescue, Media & Education (ARME, also founded by Shannon Keith), rescuing and finding homes for lab research beagles, an unfortunate commodity in the scientific community.
We had the great pleasure of interviewing Gary Smith, Director of Operations, and the video attached shares our conversation regarding research beagles (usually obtained directly from commercial breeders who specifically breed and sell dogs), the dedication and optimism involved in rescue, and their latest effort rescuing 41 Beagles from a Spanish laboratory (and how you can help this worthwhile endeavor).
We also learned what they need the most, why an amount of 14 billion dollars is funded by the U.S. for animal testing every year, what alternatives exist to using these animals for scientific research, and how we all can change our consumer habits to help animals.

Thank you for the amazing work you are doing. For saving these precious creatures. And for exposing the HORROR and CRUELTY that is vivisection.
Although I follow Gary and Beagle Freedom Project on Facebook and Twitter, this is the first time I’ve seen this interview! Will be sharing now for others to see! Thanks guys 🙂
Thank you for sharing! Downtown Dog Rescue was one of our first interviews.
